US will pressure Mexico for imminent ban on transgenic corn

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said Tuesday that he is continuing to speak with officials in Mexico about the impending ban on genetically modified corn in the country, adding that it will be important to have clarity on the issue in 2023.

Some Mexican government officials, including Agriculture Minister Víctor Villalobos , have indicated that imports of yellow corn for livestock feed will not be affected by the GMO ban.
