Taiwan detects parasites in frozen beef tongues imported from the US.

The Taiwan Food and Medicine Administration (FDA) has stopped the importation of a batch containing 2,226.8 kg of frozen beef tongues from the US after detecting parasites.

Specifically, parasites of Sarcocystis species were detected in a batch of frozen Tyson PPI Premium Trimmed Beef Tongues. This is the first time US beef has tested positive for parasites since it was also found in early 2021.
