‘Product of USA’ labeling proposed by the US would cause disruption in meat exports from Mexico and Canada, alert CNA

The National Agricultural Council (CNA) warned that the voluntary use of the “Product of USA” label will disrupt beef exports from Mexico and Canada, the main suppliers of food to the United States. “The voluntary rule proposal anticipates a possible disruption in the supply of beef in the United States,” said the body in charge of Juan Cortina Gallardo.

Currently, Mexico and Canada are the first and second suppliers of beef to the United States, representing 29 percent and 24 percent of its total imports, respectively, he added.
