NL agriculture is concerned about opening to meat from Brazil

The Nuevo León Agricultural Council expressed its concern about the negotiations that the federal government is holding with that of Brazil to soon open the borders to imports of bovine meat from the South American country.

This just when the Brazilian authority confirmed a case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy disease in an animal, commonly called ” mad cow disease “, and had to stop its exports to China, its main market. The agency asked not to open the border to the importation of meat from Brazil until it has been ensured that all the necessary requirements have been agreed and there is enough personnel to apply the inspection measures to guarantee that meat or animals that represent a risk will not enter Mexico.
