In January 2023, the number of slaughtered heads remained at a high level and the participation of females in the total slaughter was slightly above the upper limit of the interval compatible with the maintenance of the cattle herd. As we pointed out in previous Reports, the deepening of the intense dry spell that is going through a large part of the country meant that as of May of last year, the cattle ranch slaughter increased almost 10% in relation to the average of the previous eighteen months. In parallel, in foreign markets the price of beef cuts fell significantly. All of this caused the relative price of cattle and beef on the counter to fall, negatively impacting breeding and fattening activities.
