According to the South China Morning Post report , the increase in US beef exports to China is a consequence of the trade war between the world’s 2 largest economies as well as increased tensions between Beijing and Canberra in recent years. Australia’s annual exports of frozen and chilled beef to China were about 185,000 tonnes in 2022, but the US has just surpassed that with 192,000 tonnes of meat and offal.
